Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de | Worth Watching?

Hullo everyone and welcome back to another blog post :3

Today we’re going to discuss Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de, otherwise known as When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace. This Anime aired in the Fall of 2014 (Like a lot of the Anime I’ve reviewed thus far) and is known to 176,273 according to MyAnimeList. To top it all off, it is currently sitting at a rating of 7.32

This is an Anime I saw a while back and is an Anime I re-watched for the purpose of writing a ‘Worth Watching’ post for my blog. So today we’re going to be asking that very question!

Episode Count: 12

MyAnimeList Synopsis
“During a Literature Club meeting, the four club members—along with their faculty adviser’s niece—suddenly find themselves with supernatural powers. Now capable of fabricating black flames, resident chuunibyou Jurai Andou is the most ecstatic about their new abilities; unfortunately, his own is only for show and unable to accomplish anything of substance. Moreover, he is completely outclassed by those around him: fellow club member Tomoyo Kanzaki manipulates time, Jurai’s childhood friend Hatoko Kushikawa wields control over the five elements, club president Sayumi Takanashi can repair both inanimate objects and living things, and their adviser’s niece Chifuyu Himeki is able to create objects out of thin air.

However, while the mystery of why they received these powers looms overhead, very little has changed for the Literature Club. The everyday lives of these five superpowered students continue on, albeit now tinged with the supernatural.

Story 7/10:
It’s a Slice of life, need I say more? However, this anime actually surprised me with its small back story and character stories have seen. Rather everyday life, where nothing really happens, you actually get to know each character (with very distinct personalities) and how they interact with one another. Some animes fail at this, while others do fantastic, and I think Inou-Battle did a fantastic job. The show surprisingly had me connect to the characters in ways I didn’t know possible. (More on character later). But, like I said, the story is not huge at all, but what is there is great. Basically, this Anime revolves around a high school club, a high school club where each character has a superpower.

It entails their everyday journey of mastering their craft, while trying to live a normal life in the process, with a little bit of fun of course.”

Art 8/10:
Oh, my goodness, the art. The art in this show is downright beautiful. From the faces and body movement to the surroundings, this show delivers the goods. For me, the real selling point for art is the design of characters, how their mood changes based on physical attributes, and active movement. The blush is an example of the whole “expression” thing. Since it’s used often within the Anime, it gives it a particularly more playful manner – which really makes it one of the selling points of the show.

Soundtrack 7.5/10:
When there is a moment like this, the sound really creates an amazing atmosphere. (Especially when it’s sad). Also, the opening song: AMAZING. I had it stuck in my head for a while, the show does not disappoint!

An example of an intense moment:

Character 8.5/10:
Personally, I really liked these characters. Each has a distinct personality and interaction with one another, and are downright hilarious!. It made me feel good, and it’s hard to explain why. And I mean “good” in a sense of well-being and really touched me on a personal level. The design of the characters is awesome too. Each one has a clear distinction from the next.

For people who watched the show, the distinguishing factor is easy to see. As for interaction, this is when romance comes into play. For me, the romance and its scenes honestly fit the show perfectly. There was no “kissy-kissy” junk or any over-doing. It strives to bring a different kind of message. Not about loving others, but loving yourself and your friends. That’s an awesome, and powerful message that I can, and many others can relate to.

Here’s a little blurb of all the characters from the Anime

Conclusion
Is this Anime worth a watch? Definitely. I do think so, it’s a really well done Anime overall and is something that a casual viewer like you and I can really enjoy. It’s a thumbs-up from me!
