Kimi no Iru Machi | Worst Manga Adaptation

Where do I begin? This Anime really, really disappointed me. I read the manga Kimi no Iru Machi, while it was still ongoing and like every manga reader who watches the animated version of the manga they just read, naturally, the user will have high expectations.

This Anime was one where I had extremely high expectations before because the manga was something I loved dearly. It was actually one of the first manga I’ve ever read.

The reason why I think it’s the worst manga adaptation ever is that they skipped over many key parts within the Manga. The parts they skipped over were parts that explained the story, parts that gave us the reader a better understanding of all the factors in play during a specific scene within the manga. Another thing that bothered me about the Anime was that it flew by the story, in

Another thing that bothered me about the Anime was that it flew by the story, in the original series, Kimi no Iru Machi has a total of 27 volumes, with 270 chapters total. The studio that created the Anime, decided it would be a good idea to jam close to half of the chapters (while skipping key parts) into a series of only 12 episodes.

Because of their carelessness, the character development that takes place in the Anime undermines the character development that’s in the manga. On top of all that, they take one of the best stories I’ve ever read, one that was developed really, really well and turned it into a bland, and cliché, just your average Romance Anime.

In my opinion, I believe the manga deserved a better adaptation than the one that was given back in 2013. Overall the animated version felt rushed, flawed, and downright terrible – it gives the manga bad rep. I definitely would not recommend the Anime to anyone wanting to look for a romance Anime, however, if you really wanted to see Kimi no Iru Machi, then I would suggest reading the manga – it’s 150% better than the Anime.
