Citrus | First Impressions
Today, I would like to give my first impressions on the Anime Citrus. Before we get started, I have actually read the manga this Anime is based on. So I knew what to expect if any of it were to be animated.
The opening was alright. It didn’t really blow me away, it sounded typical. It wasn’t over the top, and annoying. It was a nice song to listen to. However, I am really disappointed with what the studio decided to include for the opening in regards to the animations.
In my opinion, it revealed too much of the actual storyline. Pretty much, if you watched the whole opening through once, you will already know the premise of the Anime. Which is very unfortunate, given that the MyAnimeList synopsis for the Anime, does not spoil anything of the Anime.
The animation of the Anime doesn’t really stand out to me either. It seems fairly normal and falls in line with typical art styles from different Anime. Sometimes, the transitions between scenes and how the characters move seem rather… blocky? Almost like they are constantly lagging. I may just be the only one who sees it that way.
Story-wise, it’s very reminiscent of other Anime and not the good ones. It follows a similar story to that of Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga, KissXsis, Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai, and Yosuga no Sora. What all these Anime have in common you might ask? Well, each one follows the storyline of “Sibling love”.
Which in itself is verrrry iffy. But instead of it being “Brother and sister” it’s “sister and sister”. Which you can also see similarities with Koi to Uso and Sakura’s Trick.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I do have to warn you. If you plan to watch any of those Anime be prepared for cringe and the possibility of being uncomfortable.
Citrus, solely based on the first episode did not give me a really good impression. But me being me, I will continue on and finish the Anime, like I did Koi to Uso and Yosuga no Sora.
