Woo! I haven’t done one of these in a long time. Today I will be telling showing off my favourites from the Spring 2011 season – please do not get mad at me for the placement of the Anime on my list here, it’s all personal preference and a case can be made for all Anime listed today to be number one.
Number 1: Anohana
If you’ve been following me around long enough, then you know that I have a major soft spot for this Anime. You’ve also guessed this right, this Anime was placed at the very top due to my love and affection for it #sorrynotsorry. In all honesty though, this Anime by far, in my opinion, is the best Anime aired during the spring season, and maybe for 2011. Anohana is an Anime I’d recommend to anyone any day, just because of how much I loved it. Anohana is a Slice of Life, Supernatural, and Drama.
Number 2: Steins;Gate
How can something that is rated higher and is more popular than what’s number 1, be listed as number 2?! Well, personal opinion! Yes, I know Steins;Gate is a masterpiece of an Anime – there is no denying that. Steins;Gate is a wonderful Anime, deserving of all its praise and glory it has had over the past few years. It is still regarded by many to be one of the best Anime to have ever been produced and that is saying something. This Anime is labelled as a Thriller, and Sci-Fi.
Number 3: An no Exorcist
Blue Exorcist, as it’s commonly known by is about Humans and demons are two sides of the same coin, as are Assiah and Gehenna, their respective worlds. The only way to travel between the realms is by the means of possession, like in ghost stories. However, Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, cannot find a suitable host to possess and therefore, remains imprisoned in his world. In a desperate attempt to conquer Assiah, he sends his son instead, intending for him to eventually grow into a vessel capable of possession by the demon king. It is labelled as an Action, Demons, Fantasy, Shounen, and Supernatural.
Number 4: Nichijou
Comedy gold, a powerhouse in the genre of Comedy, one might say. What is a top Anime list without the occasional comedy mixed in there? You have to appreciate Comedy Anime and the jokes put into it, all just to make the viewer laugh. This is something that Nichijou achieved and is something that can make anyone laugh whenever, and however. Nichijou is labelled as a Slice of Life, Comedy, School, and Shounen.
Number 4: Gintama
Now you may be wondering why an Anime like Gintama, a series where pretty much all of its seasons are located within the top 30 list on MyAnimeList, be at the bottom of my list. Well, that is because Gintama compared to the other Anime on this list is still airing. Everyone knows the greatness of Gintama, however, I thought it would be nice if I displayed Anime that are no longer airing (to a certain extent), at the top so people like you and I can go back and revisit what made them great Anime. Gintama is labelled as an Action, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Historical, Parody, Samurai, and Shounen. So pretty much, it’s everything and anything.
