Reflecting on this year.
It is now time to reflect on this year. With 2018 quickly coming to a close, it’s time to say goodbye to everything that happened this year and hello to what is to come. 2018 for me has been a rollercoaster of a year for me – with many ups and many downs. I’ve learnt more about myself both physically and mentally. I’ve come to understand what works for me and how far I can push myself and I have a better understanding of what work needs to be done to continue to push be along.
Despite the many downs, I had this year, I continued to push through. That drive to continue to push really kept me going and helped turn this blog boom into something great, something that I am personally proud of today. Earlier this year, back in January, I posted a blog titled 2018 Updates & Ambitions!. Where I outlined my goals for this year, I would say I reached 2 out of the 3 goals I had for myself this year.
“Promote ways to support me” – I mentioned in that post that I wanted to have more ways to support me. I think I have achieved that goal, I now have a Patreon, Ko-fi, PayPal, and WordPress’ simple donations widget set up. Little did I know, however, that what I really meant by “promote ways to support me” I meant learning to be more consistent in my uploads and the quality of content that I put out for all of you to read. Because of this goal, it made me become more organized – I now have a spreadsheet keeping track of my productivity as well as scheduling for my blog. This spreadsheet has helped me immensely with staying consistent.
“Reach the 80 Follower mark” – When I posted my first blog of 2018, I said I wanted to reach the 80 follower mark. This was when this blog only had 60 followers. Now, because of all of you, who have continued to support me, and retweet my posts on Twitter. As of today, I am now sitting at 141 followers! Something I wouldn’t have ever imagined. I guess it is safe to say that I have surpassed that milestone.
“Add more variety” – This was the one goal I feel as though I didn’t reach. I still heavily default on “Anime Review”, “Worth Watching?” and now “Anime Universe”. I will admit, it’s hard doing variety when defaulting to one of those three categories is a lot easier and more convenient. Since I didn’t reach this goal this year, I will make sure that in 2019 that I will work towards more variety – well I hope anyway.
I’ve accomplished a lot this year, something that I am extremely proud of. My only goal for 2019 is to continue to grow and improve upon the content I share with all of you, knowing that what I put out is something I am satisfied and proud of. Cheers to a new year! Happy New Year guys! 🙂 – Alex (Otaku Central).
