First impressions #2, the second one fo the new year! Today we’ll be talking about “Yagate Kimi ni Naru” a Shoujo Ai. Why such did I decide to start watching an Anime that was the complete opposite of Bunny Girl, which I watched last year? No clue, but I decided to switch it up. If I am being honest with you, writing this “First Impressions” is actually pretty embarrassing for me.
What an INTENSE first episode. It went from 0 to 100 real fast. The two prominent characters who take center stage is Yuu Koito and Touko Nanami. Whose relationship that didn’t exist at the beginning of the episode, turns into something? Keeping in mind that these two characters have never met before. Now that will 100% turn people away from the Anime – which in itself is reasonable.
One thing I did notice from the start and took mental note of was the art, in large part because compared to “Bunny Girl”, the characters and the background scenes they’re placed in really fit and compliment each other. It doesn’t feel like the characters are out-of-place, everything sort of just blends together rather nicely. Not to mention, the eye shapes of the characters are unique too, different from what you’d typically see from other Anime (weird of me to say that, but you know what I mean – hopefully).
As per usual, like what you generally see from all Anime nowadays, seeing them close up and from far away are two different worlds. The close up is, more detailed than what is presented from a character being in the distance. I’ve always disliked that about Anime, however, I cannot hate too much about this sort of thing is still very prominent in all Anime.
Moving onto general sound. It will be something you notice almost immediately because as it’s a school setting there is always the sounds of everyday school life that everyone has come accustomed to. Not to mention that from what I’ve observed thus far there is always a background instrumental playing in the background, this is noticeable when you hear the two characters talk to one another. Is it an annoyance? Not one bit. I think it provides life to dialogue that can seem rather boring to the viewer, it did well to keep me watching. It’s also a very soothing melody and I definitely do not have a problem with that.
