Welcome to the third First Impressions of the new year! Woooooooo, clap! Today we’ll be chatting about Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii.
Right off the bat, notice four characters that stand out from the crowd, the same four you see in both the OP and ED. Yup, these are the main characters, but they all seem to have the same thing in common, they are all otaku and they all work in the same company. That is about it from what I can tell character and story wise. After all, the Anime itself is classed as a Slice of Life, Comedy, and Romance. Which means there will be a lack of story, but it will make up for it in a whole bunch of comedy, and that’s something I am always down to watch.
The art isn’t really something that stands out at me. For some reason, the art feels more cartoon-like than usual, sort of what you’ll see in American cartoons. I am not too sure how I feel about it so far, it doesn’t really bother me and I think it works for the comedy that’s in the Anime. However, what does bug me is that there are some scenes where it feels like the character movement is lagging. The movements of the characters don’t seem to be very smooth and it’s very noticeable. The same can be said about the background scenery. One scene it’s very detailed, the next not so much.
As this Anime is about the co-existence of four different otaku personalities. It is a lot to take in at one given time. As each character stands out and has his or her own irks. It may even be overwhelming to some if trying to understand the various personalities. It’ll be interesting to see how the different personalities work with each other.
What I do enjoy, however, are the OP and ED songs used. They really fit the Anime, they are both very light, very upbeat and very catchy. I’ve only listed to the OP three times (because I’ve seen three episodes) and I feel like I can sing along to the song – even though I do not know Japanese.
Overall, I am looking forward to this Anime. I haven’t watched a full-on comedy Anime in a while, so hopefully, I can laugh a few times.
