Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san | Episode 7 Review

Episode Seven Thoughts
Being completely honest here, while I haven’t found Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san all too entertaining. One thing I absolutely love is the OP “EASY LOVE” by Sumire Uesaka (上坂 すみれ). It’s extremely catchy and something I can definitely jam out to. Anyway, let’s talk episode seven.
Oddly enough, I thought episode seven was one of the better episodes that I’ve seen so far. This is probably because the supporting cast didn’t take up half the episode with their usual jokes and teases towards Hachiouji which to me was nice. The same can be said about Nagatoro. What she usually does to Hachiouji was very watered down. I’m sure it had something to with the festival setting which took up the majority of the episode. Whenever there is a festival in any anime, a lot of the moments that happen are a lot more heartfelt and is primarily about the characters enjoying each other’s company. Which is something I enjoy watching.

Another aspect about the episode that I enjoyed was the growing connection between Nagatoro and Hachiouji. While the relationship is still very much a ‘Master and pet’ sort of deal. You can definitely notice that the two of them better understand the intentions of one another. The impact Nagatoro has had on Hachiouji is one I expected. Whenever someone who is the complete opposite of yourself enters your life it’ll be annoying more often than not, but with time, it will become something you appreciate. This is something Hachiouji is experiencing right now, even though he doesn’t want to think about Nagatoro, she’s always on his mind because he’s dealt with her so often that Nagatoro has become a part of his daily life. Which is something he doesn’t like, but also appreciates at the same time. Something similar to that can be said about Hachiouji for Nagatoro.

What I liked most was that the episode displayed the characters, primarily Hachiouji and Nagatoro, growing to accept one another; that’s what everything boils down to. While Nagatoro and her friend group have already accepted Hachiouji as someone they can hang out with, the same couldn’t be said about Hachiouji up until this episode. For the longest time, he wasn’t willing to accept these various disturbances in his life and rightfully so, even now he is still hesitant. However now, he’s more or less alright with them because he knows they’ll always be there to bother him, yes, but they also provide something he lacks, which is company.
My letter grade for this episode is a B+.
