Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san | Episode 11 Review

Episode Eleven Thoughts

I found this episode extremely hard to enjoy, and that was because I simply do not like the supporting cast. I find them too annoying to the point where it makes the episode; rather, the first half of the episode barely unwatchable, in my opinion. I’m getting extremely close to the end of the rope with this set of supporting cast members. I do not think they add anything to the anime.

Now that I have that out of the way, I would like to talk briefly about the episode as a whole. You can definitely like this is definitely the ‘final boss’ moment of the anime, the climax of it all. Hachiouji vs. Sana (Art Club President). The bout itself won’t be too long or eventful, well I don’t expect it to be. However, you could tell that the purpose of this episode was to help with Hachiouji and Nagatoro and their developing friendship. If you’re like me and you’ve been following the series episode-by-episode, then you’d know that Hachiouji has a hard time expressing how and what he feels towards Nagatoro; the same can be said for Nagatoro. However, if we were to compare the two based off of this episode alone, then Hachiouji has taken a giant leap forward because he openly expressed himself by saying, “He wanted to draw her because that’s what he found most attractive.”

I do not think any of that would have happened if the Club President hadn’t talked about drawing something you were passionate about. Yes, Hachiouji wanted to draw alone and without Nagatoro’s help, but then he would have been drawing boring things, things he wouldn’t have necessarily been happy with or was passionate about. The Art Club President was like us; she knew that Nagatoro was someone who Hachiouji enjoyed drawing and exclaimed, “Don’t lose her!” and rightfully so.

Overall, while it was nice to see Nagatoro and Hachiouji’s friendship develop even further. The supporting cast, primarily being all of Nagatoro’s friends, really ruined the episode and overall enjoyment for me. D-
