Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? | Episode 7 and 8 Review

Episode Seven and Eight Thoughts
Something I will admit is that the OP sang by “Onegai Muscle (お願いマッスル)” by Hibiki Sakura (Ai Fairuz), & Naruzou Machio (Kaito Ishikawa), has really started to grow on me and I’m starting to really enjoy it. It’s definitely one catchy song for sure. I think the same can be said for the ED “Macho a Name? (マッチョアネーム?)” Naruzou Machio (Kaito Ishikawa) as well. The more I listen to them, the more I like them.
One thing I will say about episode seven is that Gina’s impact has been almost immediate. She has definitely flipped this show on its head and added a new element to the whole thing. It honestly felt like Gina was like “This is now my show” and made her entrance loud and clear, which is something I really liked. Episode seven was a very unorthodox episode because it didn’t have the two designated health tips segments from Machio and Akemi. Well it kind of did but it wasn’t done in its usual format, instead of the two usual segments, it was taking place in real time and I liked that a lot more.
Episode eight, we find ourselves going back to the same sort of format that we’re used to seeing in the previous episodes. Is that something I dislike? Not really. At first I disliked how chopped up the first few episodes were, but as I got further and further into the anime the more I became accustomed to it and the more it didn’t bother me. Although it was ultimately a return to form, something that I noticed was that the segments were a lot shorter (well I think anyway), and we spent more time focusing on the comedic side of the show. Which is something I really enjoyed.
Although both episodes stayed true to Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?‘s theme of being a show about exercise, healthy eating and habits. I felt myself enjoying episodes seven and eight a lot more than I did the other previous episodes because, like I said previously, there was more humor, the comedic element was a lot more apparent and took a lot more of the focus of each episode. Which made watching all the exercising bits a little more entertaining to watch. Ideally, I would prefer it if episodes nine through twelve carried the same sort vibe and comedy that episodes seven and eight had. I think it would be a strong finish to this show for sure. Anyway, that concludes this short blog. I find myself writing less and less with each blog post relating to this anime, I think it has to do with the fact that there isn’t really much to talk about. I mean, since each episode is about working out, to me there isn’t really much to comment on. When I do comment, however, it’s on everything else outright of the exercise gimmick and in that regard there isn’t much of that. Which I honestly hope does change a little bit because despite there being humor and comedy I am starting to lose a little bit of interest in the whole working out stuff; but anyway, onto the next one!
