I think that Shin no Nakama ja Nai to Yuusha no Party wo Oidasareta node, Henkyou de Slow Life suru Koto ni Shimashita has started to get interesting at the wrong time. Which why I labelled today’s blog as “a little too late”.
For me, the biggest issue I have with Banished from the Hero’s Party is the lack of emotion throughout each episode. Everything about the characters’ expressions, especially when they’re speaking just looks and feels so static. Maybe that has something to do with the art style, which I do not think is all that great to be completely honest. For example, the scene where Albert is confronting Red, exclaiming his ambitions and his true motivations. Albert’s facial expression barely changed, but his voice actor was yelling. The voice actor was conveying emotion, but that emotion was not being reflected on Albert’s face, which was a big turn-off for me.
Another issue I have with the anime is that it took too long. With only four episodes yet to be aired before the anime’s conclusion, I cannot help but think that the next four episodes are going to go by really fast and are going to feel rushed. It also took too long to involve Ruti into the mix. While I understand the gradual buildup, where we saw more of Ruti in each episode, leaving her until the very end (essentially) isn’t something I particularly like. Now that she’s consuming this ‘Devil’s Blessing’, which I’m sure she’ll tell Red about and all the benefits it’ll have on her. I think it’ll turn into one of those cases where Red will ultimately have to save Ruti from herself or something along those lines.
It appears as though, the only reason why Ruti is consuming this ‘Devil’s Blessing’ is because it ‘diminishes’ her own blessing. Which by the looks of things has started to become more of a burden for her than a blessing. Now that Red’s past has caught up with him, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next. With Ruti there and in the mix now along with this ‘Devil’s Blessing’ also in play, I can only assume that something major will happen in one of the next four remaining episodes (I hope).
Overall, I’m rating episodes eight and nine a 5/10. Each episode of Banished from the Hero’s Party has felt like there’s something missing and episodes eight and nine are now different.
