Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu | Episode One: When you try your best to fail, but you accidentally succeed.

I’ll be completely honest here. I’m not sure whether or not I like the male protagonist Wein Salema Arbalest. Maybe it’s because of how he’s portrayed in the anime, but I think he’s a little too annoying for my liking. Whenever there was a scene of Wein speaking to himself, he spoke a little too fast, and his nasal voice didn’t help. Anyway, besides that, Wein is an interesting character. A person fed up with ruling a Kingdom that he’d rather sell it or commit treason to live a normal life.

Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu is like Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki because, in both instances, you can argue that both male protagonists are tasked with ‘rebuilding’ their kingdoms. Obviously, Souma’s goal differs from Wein in that Wein wants to sell off his kingdom once he raises its value. However, it’s more or less the same thing.

I’ve noticed about the first episode that many things happened in the episode. We go from sitting at a desk at the beginning of the episode to taking over a gold mine in another country. All of which happened unintentionally, of course. Wein is like Midas in that respect. Every plan he comes up with, which he hopes will result in his people turning against him, has the opposite effect. Everything he touches turns to gold. No plan is too outrageous; no enemy is too strong because he unintentionally finds a way to overcome these things by suggesting the most outlandish things imaginable. That’s pretty much the premise of this anime, and I don’t know if it’ll be something I will end up liking, but we’ll see when the time comes.

Personally, I’m not sure what to expect from this anime. I guess you can say “expect the same sort of things” as the first episode sets the stage for what is to come. In which case, I shouldn’t expect much at all, but there is a reason why it was adapted, right? So I assume there has to be something to look forward to. Whatever that is, I hope we’ll see. I also hope that it won’t be one of those things where they cut the anime short just to make another reason.

Overall, I do not think that the first episode of Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu has shown me enough just yet. I’m looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this anime.
