Talk about fan service, episode two of Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru had it all and you know what? I didn’t like it one bit! There wasn’t anything wrong with what happened in the second episode. I mean, for Marin to properly cosplay, she needs clothing that actually fits her dimensions. Furthermore, Marin is that one very attractive person, the one that every guy in the anime and outside of it (the viewer) falls head over heels for. So something like this is to be expected.
However, maybe it’s just me, but I’ve grown tired of these types of scenes. As time has gone on, the more I question these scenes. Are they really needed? For the purpose of this anime, yes it is, I mean how else is Gojou going to make clothes for Marin. However, did Marin really need to use her charm to test Gojou’s will? Probably not.
Anyway aside from that the one thing I found most interesting about this episode, in particular, was how much trust Marin has in Gojou. I mean, let’s be real here. They only met and interacted in the last episode and now Marin knows where Gojou lives and is comfortable enough to stand in front of him in a bikini, and to let him measure her body for her cosplay outfit. Now that is a lot of trust in a person you just met. Now, of course, this is an anime but still.
Now the question becomes, will this be an ongoing theme throughout the anime? My assumption will be that this will be the case and I’m not sure whether or not that will ultimately be something I enjoy watching. Furthermore, I wonder how long it will take before any form of doubt takes place. What I mean by that is will there be a time somewhere in the anime where Gojou questions why he’s making all these outfits for Marin. It is only to help her fulfill her dream of being a cosplayer? When will Gojou starts asking “What’s in it for me?”. Only time will tell.
