Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Part 2 | Episode Four and Five: Not eventful.

Man, episodes four and give of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Part 2 were in short, not eventful. Similar to how the previous episodes played out, episodes four and five only really took place in one location, which would be the throne room in Elfrieden, where Souma passed his judgement on Carla Vargas and her father.

I think the only difference between the first three episodes and the most recent ones was that Souma showed a lot more emotion. He didn’t want to kill Georg because of his longtime service to the Kingdom and because of his master plan of rallying all the corrupt nobles to support his cause, making it easier for Souma to track these people down. You could feel the pain in Souma’s voice.

Souma wanted to have Georg be his side, however, Georg knew that he was already too deep and too well connected with the corrupt mobiles that he knew that he would only cause problems for Souma and Liscia. Then during episode five, we see a different version of Souma, someone who during the trial of Carla and her father executed the nobles Georg had uncovered as individuals who were working against the Kingdom. But spares Carla and her father.

However apart from those two individual moments, much like the previous few episodes, it’s just a bunch of chatter and it’s starting to become pretty annoying. We’ve all seen anime where it’s just chatter all day long, I could probably name a few anime in recent memory where this has been the case. But man, pairing character dialogue with scenes where nothing eventful really happens, nothing that really progresses the story is troublesome, to say the least.

Considering that we’re basically at the halfway point of the anime, I do not see things improving from here. Now I don’t know what’ll happen next so maybe the latter half of the anime will knock my socks off and will make me go “wow” but nothing from the previous episodes has indicated otherwise and that’s a real shame. I want to like this anime because I feel like there’s something there, however, the story as a whole is making it really hard for me to find Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Part 2 entertaining.
