Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Ultra Romantic | Episode Two: 1B characters.
Looking at all the previous seasons to Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai. One thing that you’ll definitely will be character progression (which is a given). You cannot go three seasons without there being some sort of character development. But anyway, something else you’ll also notice is that the episode screen time has slowly started to even out amongst our characters. What I mean by this is that, originally, Shirogane and Kaguya were the ones you’d see most of the time during the first season.
During the second season, we saw all the other characters part of the student council begin to play a more prominent role. We saw more of Iino, Fujiwara and most importantly, Ishigami (whose character arc has been my favourite up until this point). Now in its third season, I think something you can expect is all our characters getting a fair share of screentime and that is something I welcome.
Now after saying all this, I will consider them all 1A and 1B characters. At the end of the day, you already know that the stars of the anime will always be Kaguya and Shirogane-kun. But to have an episode where the primary focus was on characters other than our usual two was a nice change. Especially for it only being the second episode to the anime.
In a weird way, I think that Iino and Ishigami are a different variation of the Kaguya and Shirogane-kun dynamic. What I mean by that is we all know the Kaguya and Shirogane-kun like each other and are doing everything in their power to make the other person confess their feelings first. While Iino and Ishigami play the typical role of “I cannot stand this person, I don’t like them. However, I’m slowly starting to appreciate and look out for them more”. If you know, then you know. Although they are the complete opposites of each other, for all the bickering that they do, they certainly fit really well together. That’s what I think anyway.
If the chapters I think will be adapted will feature in the third season, then hopefully we see a bigger step from the other set of characters. As someone who has read the manga, I can gush about it all day. Without spoiling anything, one thing that has blown me away is how far our characters have progressed, and if what I think will be animated comes true. Then I think I’ll end up loving every character that little bit more.
I’m very excited for what is to come!
