Aharen-san wa Hakarenai | Episodes five and six review.

Episodes five and six of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai were the best episodes for me because it showed off the great connection between Aharen-san and Raidou.

As I’ve already mentioned, episodes five and six of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai showed off the great connection between our two characters. It shows a weirdly entertaining bond they have with each other. Their connection is one of a kind because not only do they not understand what the other is thinking but in the same vain, they understand one another. You know what I mean?

Like what they think about the other person often results in them overthinking the situation. This is the case whenever Raidou-kun fails to understand what Aharen-san is thinking, more often than not causing him to assume the worst. When it’s far from that. Only after assuming the worst does Raidou understand what Aharen-san wants. It’s hard to put into words the connection they share and how they’re seemingly able to misinterpret, but fully understand each other. It helps that their personalities are more or less the same.

In my What makes a good comedy post, I talked about what was ideal for me in terms of character personalities and how many characters should be in a comedy. Looking back at that post, I still stand by what I’ve typed but if I were to amend it now, I would certainly talk less about the extremes on either side of the spectrum and talk about the various anime that work well within the “two or less’ category.

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai would be the exception because I believe that having these two characters, Aharen-san and Raidou-kun just work and work extremely well together. Nothing about either character, especially in episodes five and six felt overexaggerated or down right crazy. Neither character possesses a personality that overwhelms the general vibe of the show or their counterpart. They carry similar personalities and offer something the other character lacks. This pairing is the perfect example of two characters working together for the benefit of the anime.

Obviously, I am speaking from a position of bias because I’m really enjoying the anime right now. It is because of this bias that I also think that episodes five and six were the anime’s best episodes to date because both episodes were extremely entertaining. I owe that to the characters for sure.

In short, episodes five and six were great episodes. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is turning out to be a pretty good anime if you ask me.
