Aharen-san wa Hakarenai | Episode Review: All around great.

Episodes seven and eight of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai had a little bit of everything. I’ll be honest, this anime is turning out to be so good, I’m not sure how anyone can dislike this show.

You cannot have two polar opposite episodes, episode seven was your typical run of the mill episode, the ‘status quo’. Despite being a somewhat normal episode by Aharen-san wa Hakarenai’s standards, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the episode itself was very entertaining. I think that’s the one thing you cannot take away from this anime and the episodes, there is always something going on that is mildly entertaining. There are hardly any dull moments and that’s something I’ve really come to appreciate.

Then you have episode eight and my goodness, it cannot be a more different anime. I think the best way to describe this episode, would be that it’s something out of a fantasy. Which it is because for the most part, the episode and everything that happened in it came from the imagination of Toubaru-sensei. If you ever wondered or wanted to see Aharen-san and Raidou-kun’s relationship in a world where was any sort of affection, then episode seven if your episode and Toubaru-sensei is your person.

For me, episodes seven and eight showed just how versatile Aharen-san wa Hakarenai has been. One episode you can have one of those normal high school anime, then the next you could be watching a character live out a fantasy in their head. To be this flexible is a major strength of these types of anime, you’re able to manipulate the story in whatever way makes it the most entertaining.

Even the most random of things can feel normal and as if it was supposed to happen, and that’s why I’ve enjoyed both episodes seven and eight.
