You don’t know how long I’ve waited to potentially see what I want to see from the manga adapted. By all indications we’re getting closer and closer to seeing what I want to be animated coming true. For spoilers (if you haven’t read the manga), this is all very vague, yes. However, I think it gets across my excitement of what is to come. Now that the culture festival has been mentioned, I cannot help but get excited.
You guys already know my views on festivals, especially school ones. They’re overused and are similar in many ways. But Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Ultra Romantic‘s Culture Festival will be one I’ll be looking forward to with great expectations.
Now we’re getting to the good part. Having read it this part and everything else that comes before it. I certainly hope that the festival arc fulfills all my needs and wants. It’s weird, I always talk about how overused these ‘festival’ things are, because they all feel the same. I think I mentioned something to that extent in one of my most recent blogs not related to Kaguya-sama.
However, there are times when those festival arcs (or episodes) in anime signal a turning point. As of recently, I do not think that has been the case for the majority of anime, until now. I believe wholeheartly that the Cultural Festival Arc here in Kaguya-sama will turn out to be something grand.
What I enjoyed most was you could feel the shift in focus. What I thought episodes six and seven did well at was directing everyone’s attention to what I assume will be the focus of the latter episodes, the festival. It also introduced a character who is important to the later chapters of the manga, Tsubame Koyasu. I can only assume that the other prominent figures will also be introduced as the episodes go on. Which again, is something I’m excited for.
The one thing I’ll hate to see is the studio rushing to fit everything into this third season. With such an important arc about to be covered, the one thing that cannot happen is everything being rushed into the third season. We’ll see what happens when time comes.
