Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season | Anime Review

When I think Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season, I think character progression. This was the anime’s best feature and is what made the latter episodes very enjoyable for me.

As you’d expect from a second season, it’s supposed to continue the story being told. It’s supposed to expand on the information already given. For me, I thought Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season did an excellent job at that. There were many things that I liked. I thought the second season didn’t feel too over the top with regards to character expressions (something that I took issue with in the first season). Everything felt a little more toned down and simple, which was something I enjoyed the most.
I’m a simple man, so anything that works for a simpleton like myself will always gain my favor.
What I enjoyed the most about the anime was how much Komi-san has grown over both seasons. The Komi-san we see now and the one we saw during season one are two different people. The once timid Komi-san is now one who for the most part is able to approach and make friends with people she doesn’t know. More importantly, Komi-san has now gotten to the point where she can express how she’s feeling through her own way.
As Komi-san grows more and more confident, she’s able to take more of the lead. The second season made Komi-san feel more like a main character. Gone are the days where each episode used to feature the majority of the supporting cast. While we still get some of that, their appearances feel more complimentary now because of how Komi-san has come as a character.
While we see more and more of Komi-san as the episodes progressed, Tadano-kun definitely takes more of a backseat. It definitely felt like Tadano-kun wasn’t as important. He goes from helping Komi-san with making friends, to barely helping her at all because she’s now comfortable doing things on her own. That being said, I do expect his importance to pick up again because we know that both Komi-san and Tadano-kun have feelings for each other. So natural progression suggests that this relationship between the two will be expanded upon next.
Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season is one of those sequels that lived up to expectations. One of the biggest issues I had was that Komi-san didn’t feel like a main character and that supporting cast featured to regularly to be considered ‘supporting cast’. The second season addresses both of these things. The supporting cast now feels more complimentary and are used in a way that has benefited the anime. Komi-san also now feels like someone who is able to take charge in her own way.
Overall, Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season was a great sequel, it was an anime I enjoyed.
