Spy x Family Part 2 | Episode 1: Yes please.

Okay. Okay. Don’t panic. Could Spy x Family Part 2 be one of those instances where the second season tops that of the first? I think so. I mean, we’re seeing that more and more now, where the second season generally speaking is more popular than the first. Which is nice to see, but I feel like Spy x Family Part 2 is going to be something of epic proportions.

I had no doubt in my mind that Spy x Family Part 2 wouldn’t be able to live off the hype. I expected it to thrive, to be completely honest. Episode one of Spy x Family Part 2 told me that we’re going back bigger and better, and I am down for that.

For starters, let’s talk about how beautiful both the OP and ED are. They are just so colourful, vibrant, and are pleasing to the eye. You can tell that the studio put a lot of effort into both the OP and ED. “SOUVENIR” by BUMP OF CHICKEN stellar song, as expected from Bump of Chicken, they never disappoint and “Shikisai (色彩)” by yama is equally as good.

Anyway, moving onto what I thought about the first episode. As you can already tell, I loved the first episode. It had everything that made the first season so great. We had the adventure of Anya, which has guided her to what will be her new dog, Bond. We have Yor’s over the top worst case scenario thoughts, along with her insane strength. Then we have Loid, who is off doing his spy missions.

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing how Bond, Anya’s new pet will influence the whole dynamic of the show. We already knew that this dog has some type of power, as described by Anya during the episode, the dog maybe like her, a telepath or has the ability to see into the future. I think that latter is more possible than the dog being a telepath. But I cannot rule that out just yet.

I did enjoy the fact that we immediately jumped right into the action. From the get-go there already was something exciting. It was action packed and that is what you need in a first episode. If you want to stick it to the viewer, no better way then to pull them in with a little bit of thrill and spice with Anya and Bond going on their first unofficial yet, official life saving mission. I also love the fact that we ended off on a little bit of a cliffhanger, Yor coming in to save the day. What will happen next? I don’t know, but I am excited to find out.
