Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! Double | The yearn for something more.

I’m starting to think that Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! Double needs something more. The unavoidable outcome is staring me right in the face and I don’t know whether or not I like that. On top of that I didn’t think episodes two or three were really worth watching.

The more I say these things the more I think it’s the style of anime I’ve slowly grown tired of. Which is a shame really, but it is what it is.

In short, did I find episodes two and three of Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! Double to be all that interesting? As previously mentioned it felt as though there was something lacking.

Every so often you feel an anime fall into mediocracy. Where it is neither good nor bad, it’s just there stuck in the middle and I think Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! Double has gotten to that point to me. What makes it a little frustrating is that you can already tell that they are trying to push the relationship between Uzaki and Sakurai further. Episode three was when we saw the push become a little bit more obvious.

Then the issue because is this something I can really root for? While Uzaki and Sakurai are interesting characters in their own right. Realistically, do I want them becoming a thing? No. However, we know that whether or not I agree with it, it’s going to happen. I think this comes down to how they act as individuals.

Personally, I enjoy the friendly banter between the two. To me, I think that’s the best part of the anime. They feel like polar opposites but are weirdly the same. That is what I enjoy, this awkwardness between the two as a result of everyone else and the events that had just taken place (like the fortunetelling), has begun to slowly erode the entertainment factor of that friendly banter — because they’re forcing the romance onto me.

Would have I have liked for there to be something a little more natural? Yes, but I say that about every anime I’ve come across that has any resemblance of a romance happening. This is what you get with anime trying to be more than just one genre at once, not to mention the limitation of twelve to thirteen episodes. So like many other anime, I will just accept it as is and move on with my day.

Overall, I’d say that episodes two and three were fairly poor episodes. They didn’t provide me with the same joy I experienced while watching the first episode. But hey, it is what it is.
