What I’ve enjoyed these past few episodes (ones pertaining to the hot springs), is that we see Tsukasa and Nasa learn more about each other and their own limits through their own embarrassment. Which in a way is extremely wholesome because they want to be better partners to one another. This has also meant that in their quest to be better partners, Tsukasa and Nasa are slowly becoming more and more intimate with each other.
That’s where they learn through their embarrassment. This is because they are still learning about themselves while being married. Let’s not forget now, they are still strangers, I don’t know how much time has passed, I assume about a year. For the sake of argument, let’s say a year has passed. In no way is it possible that in that year they’ve learned everything about each other.
Which is why I’ve come to like Tonikaku Kawaii 2nd Season a lot because we’re growing with Tsukasa and Nasa. As they learn more about each other, we follow them on this journey of wholesomeness. They want to be more intimate with one another but cannot help but feel embarrassed and shy; which honestly is like the cutest thing. Obviously you know, it’s pretty corny at times like that scene where Tsukasa and Nasa are doing that kiss thing each other.
That was pretty awkward for me I will admit.
But then there are times like the whole hot spring honeymoon where you have two characters flustered out of their minds because they’re thoughts are taking over but they’re too embarrassed to do anything about it. So our characters just sit there awkwardly. In those moments of silence is when we find our characters learning most about each other because they have to break the silence whether they like it or not.
The second season and everything it has been so far feels a little slower paced and I think this has to do with the fact that our characters are going on this educational journey together. I think we’re seeing a more methodical approach and balanced approach. To the overall character development and I think that’s pretty neat because it makes all the characters involved feel more fleshed out, if you know what I mean.
That being said, the slower pace isn’t entirely good because while yes, it has promoted better character development. Generally speaking, you can make the argument that very little has happened throughout the second season and I can definitely see that. There were times when I thought that a little more could have happened for a particular episode.
As I do this thing where I binge episodes in one sitting. I’m coming from a more general sense. So I cannot name one instance in particular but for sure there were times when I felt like skipping through the episode whenever I could.
But as this blog post is primarily about me catching up to where the anime is in its story. I am generally satisfied with its direction and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
