No Game No Life | Second Season?

Today we’re going to talk about my favourite Anime of ALL TIME, No Game No Life. This Anime that I consider a masterpiece is I think the best Anime of 2014. Before everyone asks, disclaimer, I am today’s blog post will be completely biased because I LOVE the Anime.

So really, in my opinion, I do think this Anime deserves a second season. But in the tradition of asking the question, we’ll be examining whether or not No Game No Life should get another season.

Episode Count: 12

MyAnimeList Synopsis
“No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username “Kuuhaku (Blank).” They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.

The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party’s wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world.”

Does it deserve a second season?
What makes an Anime worthy of a second season? Of course, it needs to have a story, something that can be expanded on and ultimately it needs an ‘end goal’ which is something this Anime has a lot of.

With this Anime being known to almost 800k people on MyAnimeList, there is no question that this Anime was popular during its airtime.

It has a story, Sora and his sister Shiro, get transported to this new world where everything is decided by playing games. Right there you think “Okay, a world decided by games, what real meat does that have?” Well I’ll tell you, yes they get teleported to a new world but this new world is designed so strategically that it’ll blow your mind.

This game is literal chess, in this world, there are 16 races which simulate the 16 pieces on a chess board. Each race representing an individual piece, but the twist is each race is a different player, with a different goal in mind. Instead of there being only two players, there is a total of 16 players, all with different weaknesses and strengths.

But what each race don’t know is that they all serve a purpose in this world, in the Anime Sora and Shiro (Who are geniuses), figure out that in order to beat this world they have to beat each race but instead of annexing them, they have to somehow have each race join their cause. They have to do this because the person who brought them there is known as the ‘One true god’ and the only way to beat ‘God’ is if they gather all 16 races and only then can Sora and Shiro challenge God.

I’m sure most of you have seen the original series and as you all know, they have only gathered one piece to their ultimate plan. Which means there are another 14 more races they need to beat in order to challenge God.

What makes this Anime so interesting is that you find out that these two siblings are masters at strategy and have never been beaten. You get to see the strategy and time the studio put in to make each battle really well-played out. It has strategy, ecchi, comedy, serious moments and the list goes on, you name it, it’ll probably have it.

Each fight is so good it’ll leave you going ‘wow’. I remember when this Anime came out, at first I refused to watch it because I thought the concept was lame. But my cousins (Who were watching it), made me watch one episode and when I went home, I literally went through and watched each episode until I caught up. I’ve rewatched this Anime a total of 12 times and I never get tired of it, it’s just so good!

So do I think it deserves a second season? HELL YEAH. I want one so bad, they left me on the biggest cliffhanger (Watch the Anime and you’ll know what I’m talking about), I am excited about the movie though because it means I may actually get my second season!
