Love is War 2nd Season | Episode 1

Love is War is back! Back with it’s usual romance, comedy. If you have seen the first season, then you know what is to be expected by this kind of Anime — all the laughs. Something this first episode delivers on.

We are met with the same four characters shown in the first season, Kaguya Shinomiya, Chika Fujiwara, Yuu Ishigami, and Miyuki Shirogane. All of which are bringing back their own little quirks and what makes them special. There do not present anything new in regards to characters and why should they? The first season (in my opinion) has been a success story so why change something that is working extremely well.

As it’s a sequel, a lot in regards to the art style has stayed more or less the same. No improvements (as far as I can notice), which isn’t a bad thing. However, if you’re going to watch this anime, it isn’t for the characters, art or story in my opinion. You’re watching it because you want to see the comedy. Considering that this anime, as per usual, is genred as a ComedyPsychologicalRomanceSchool, and Seinen. You won’t get anything in regards to “character development” although, during the first episode you can physically see that the two main protagonists Shirogane and Shinomiya, are more “comfortable” around each other even though they are both on a mission to have the other person say “I love you” first. That part is always fun to watch.

You also cannot forget their awesome narrator who makes the anime, even more funny or even more intense when it needs to be. Love is War does a really good job at utilizing a narrator to provide a little more context or spicy to a scene.

Without a doubt, I am looking forward to more episodes and I am also looking forward to seeing what else this Anime has in store for us. Especially since there is one character we haven’t been introduced to yet, which I noticed on the “Characters & Voice Actors” list on MyAnimeList.net, which is Miko Iino. I am looking forward to seeing what role she plays in the whole student council dynamic that this Anime has, hopefully she won’t feel too out of place!
