Slow Loop | Episode One: Slice of Lifeness.

You can never go wrong with a slice of life anime. Slow Loop is no different. It’s always nice to have one or two more relaxed anime. It’s akin to a detox, something that is very much needed at times.

So what did I think about the first episode of Slow Loop? Well for starters, I’m not entirely sure why it’s called ‘Slow loop’. Maybe it has something to do with fishing? I honestly have no idea.

When Hiyori—a young girl whose deceased father taught her the joys of fishing—headed out to sea for some alone time, she never thought that she would encounter another girl there.

After a while, this girl—named Koharu—and her end up fishing and cooking together, and they get to know each other a bit in the meantime. During their brief time together Koharu finds out that the reason Hiyori went out to sea that day was because she’s hesitant towards meeting her new step family that same evening. But what a coincidence! Koharu is also meeting her new family tonight! “No. It can’t be a coincidence…” Follow these two ‘sisters’ and their new life together!

In a weird way, Slow Loop reminds me a bit of Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?, however, the best comparison would be Tamayura because in both instances we have a main character who purses the passions of their deceased fathers. Fuu takes up her father’s passion for photography, while Hiyori takes up her father’s passion for fishing. But anyway going back to what I thought about the first episode of Slow Loop. I don’t mind the grounds on which our characters meet, it’s simple and straightforward.

When you have one introverted character in Hiyori paired with an extroverted step-sister in Koharu. You already know that nothing is going to go smoothly and that has already proven to be the case. That being said, I’m looking forward to this anime because it feels like it’s going to be one of the more relaxing and lighthearted anime to air this season. I can already tell that Koharu is going to be working a treat on this anime. Her happy-go-lucky attitude is something I really like, I also love how she’s unfiltered in her thought and approach. She’s like a character who always seems to be on cloud nine.

Do I expect much? No. The only thing I would like is for this anime to be entertaining and lighthearted in its humour. To me, Slow Loop feels like an anime that will overall be a happy one, the bright colour and character design definitely give off that vibe. Everything just looks playful and that is what I want for a first episode.

Not sure how frequently I will post about this anime. I’m trying something different in my approach this year.
