Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season | Episode One: Episodic Goodness.

Ah yes, Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season. Here we are once again. Weirdly enough, I wasn’t as hyped up for the second season as I was for the first season. So maybe that’ll ultimately end up being a blessing in disguise. As is the case, with the first season, the first episode of the anime falls in-line with every previous episode, episodic. It’s a bunch of chapters adapted and merged together to make up one episode.

As a quick aside, I’m slowly growing tired of watching episodic anime. I think I’ve reached the brick wall in that regard, I’ve seen so many that I’ve become desensitized to it and now the pull it once had is no longer there. But anyway, that’s neither here nor there.

For me the biggest issue I have with Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season is that it’s airing at the same time of Love is War. Both of which carry the same setting (school), both are episodic (to certain extents), and they fall in the same genres. So it’s a matter of which one will you give preference to watching. As someone who is more invested in Love is War, that anime will always be my preference. So part of me wishes that the two anime aired during seperate seasons just to maximize what they could offer to the world of anime.

Overall though, I’d say the first episode of Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season was fairly entertaining. Though I will admit that the first episode did feel a bit all over the place. That was something that I didn’t really like. I think when it comes to episodic anime, one thing I do prefer when watching is when the chapters being adapted for the episode somehow linked to one another. Just to establish some type of flow, if you know what I mean. I think it makes the episode easier to follow when there is something about the various adaptations that link themselves to one another.

Aside from that, it’s great to see Komi-san being a little more expressive, rather, being a lot more open without being too open. If you know what I mean. It’s almost like Komi-san is finally starting to get adjusted to her crazy high school and the people she spends time with . Which is great to see because maybe we’ll see a different to side our very quiet character sometime in the near future and that’s something I’m looking forward to.
