Hataraku Maou-sama!! | I’ve waited so long for this.

I remember watching the first season of Hataraku Maou-sama! back in 2013. I remember this moment vividly because back then, my brother and I would always walk over to our cousin’s house to watch anime but to also play video games. Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part Timer) just so happened to be one of them.

I will admit, the art style is something I’ll have to get used to because it feels a little more loose around the edges while the original series felt a little more sharp in terms of line work. The second season (in terms of art style) feels a little more playful, similar to how SoL anime feel and look like. It’s really hard to explain but long story short, season two looks way different than season one.

Like, I feel as though the first season was better looking and overall better animated. There were times during the episode where I thought as though the scene could have looked better. There were times when I thought that the fascial expressions of the characters were a little too plain. There were also times when the fascial expression didn’t match with the emotion of the voice actor/actress. There definitely was a part of me that desired a little bit more.

Now then, what did I think about episode one? Apart from the animation, I thought it was nice that the original cast came back to voice these characters. I certainly missed Shirou’s maid like tendencies, I also missed Maou wanting to do good, even though he carries the name “Satan”. Overall, I’m happy that the main cast is back and in full force.

But now this begs the question, who is Alas Ramus? Upon laying my eyes on this child and her announcing that Maou and Emi are her parents (when they are not). I could already tell the direction that the second season was about to go on. We are going to see two enemies (not really) forced to act as a family for the sake of this child. I know it and you know it. Which will ultimately mean that Maou and Emi may start to develop feelings for one another but will do everything in their power to deny them as they’re mortal enemies.

With the addition of the child, it’ll for sure spice up Hataraku Maou-sama!!. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
